When did you first realise that COVID-19 was going to have an effect on your project?
As soon as the first lockdown came in March I knew that was it for live shows and that if would be difficult to say the least for the rest of the year.
Initially, what was that whole situation like, and how did you overcome/react to it?
I spent more time working on things online. Social media is building nicely and more videos have gone out.
How has your creative process changed over the last couple of months?
It’s not changed that much to be honest, if anything I have had more time to create and express. I have played more and written a lot more so that side of it has been cool.
What’s been the hardest part about writing/doing music this way?
Writing has been fine, playing live I miss and love feeds on social media are cool but nothing like the real thing. It’s such a shame what’s going on it’s killed a lot in this industry.
What bands/artists have you been listening to over the last couple of months?
Lots of stuff! Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sam Cooke (for some old soul) some GnR and some thin Lizzy and Audioslave.
So, what do you think you’ve learnt the most through COVID-19?
Your online presence is important! It’s never bothered me that much before but I realized it needed to be hammered as soon as all the live shows went. People communicate that way these days. Much to my disliking actually, I am a need the interaction of people kind of person. I can’t feel anyone through a phone or tablet.
What kind of effect do you think that it’s had on the music industry all together, and how excited are you to see it return to normal?
It’s made it hard, no live music is a big deal not just for me but for all bands and artists and all fans to for that matter. People like me need it, it’s in our blood, it’s in our souls ! I am excited to see it return and I can’t wait to g t up there and belt it out again.
What tips/advice would you like to give to other bands who are also going through this?
Use the experience to channel your emotions into your writing! Now’s the time to express and you can always put a good spin on stuff. More time to write more time to create.
Cheers guys it’s been a pleasure! Be sure to follow me @ deanenglandmusic on Facebook and insta and hoping to see you at a venue someday soon. Peace and love!
