Who Wants To Live Forever?
King Creature all the way from sunny Cornwall, right on the edge of the UK, and home to the seat of antagonism with the infamous jam or cream first debate. It is a tug-of war unlike any other, just be careful which side you take, you may lose more than your scones. Anyway, folks the mighty Creature has spent lockdown fastidiously and tirelessly working on this record to try and achieve something worthwhile out of a genuinely atrocious situation.
Opener ‘Desolation’ portrays that grimness and also features the album title, as we witness a ‘burning, broken land’ from a band of brothers who have skilfully and bravely looked Covid 19 in the eye and told it to do one. Next up we have some pretty disturbing ‘girl in a box’ vibes with ‘Captives’ a strange case of Stockholm syndrome/ Lima syndrome maybe and there is ‘something about my anger’ , isn’t there always with abusers.
This is not a fancy brunch bar my friends, it is a hearty three course dinner and then some, hard rock for the hungry and furious frets for the famished. A gnashing and a gnarling of teeth and grinding of bone is what this is made of; it is the stuff of legends. There is God tier production and engineering here in the capable of hands of Grammy award winner Mike Exeter and John Cornfield.
We celebrate fatherhood in the elegantly styled and structured ‘Wisdom Told’ it is heartfelt and probably the showstopper. Fathers are sometimes divided into two categories, those who stay and those who stray, it’s time to bring them all together and honour their worth.
‘Set The World On Fire ‘does beg a burning question, is this the record BFMV should have made? We continue in the same format, addressing our problems, trying to sift through the detritus, all the while using this set of substantial singalong anthems to punch through the darkness and rise in glory. We are urged to fight for what we believe in, fight for our dreams and fight for our very survival. Sometimes with the ‘Demon Within’ it isn’t possible and we fear there is ‘No Getting Out Alive’ which contains a whip-smart PSA – despairingly a sign of the times. Prepare yourselves for a rigorous pounding, a cannonade for the crusade to rid this world of injustice. There have been some rollicking guitar solos this year and KC have joined that elite group, soaring into the atmosphere, confident and captivating. Slap this beauty on and foot stomp and headbang your way into oblivion and beyond, yes, my friends that’s the impetus and much needed clever projection of our collective hearts. minds and souls.
Live forever? With the mighty KC for company, where do I sign?
