Single Review: DAME – Cold Water

Birmingham based indie-pop band DAME have released their buzzing new single ‘Cold Water’.

Popping the cork on this fizzing bubble of sound is the unusually created quartet, formed after singer Shannon found George crying outside the Med School, saw Jake getting kicked out of an open mic, and met Matt on Tinder.

Drinking in the clear ‘Cold Water’ of the single there is no hiding from the refreshingly fluid sound. Candied with catchy melodies and pop relishes it is an ode to moving on, living your life, and not looking back.

Lead singer Shannon Farmer added: “Cold Water is a big middle finger to the toxic person in your life that, until now, you struggled to let go of. It’s a reminder to stop self-sabotaging for the hope that something might change, and instead trying to gain back control.”

It’s a glitter ball of infectiously feel-good sound, filling the room with a light sugar rush of serotonin and huge amounts of attitude. Vibrancy bounces through rhythm vibing with the magnetic pull of the keyboard to give you the perfect kick of energy to start your day.

The indie-pop band have toured the UK, establishing fanbases from Birmingham through to London, as well as all the places in between.
