Interview: Fatal Switch

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

FS: So far so good! We have got a lot of positive feedback and messages from people who have enjoyed our single releases and our debut album Doctors & Demons. We are still trying to reach as many people as possible but we are off to a great start. Thanks for asking!

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

FS: Hmmm. Good question. The original album artwork was different then the final version we decided on for the record. That’s a juicy titbit we haven’t shared with anyone yet. Both designs have a similar concept but we ended up choosing the one that fills the page better and has a more official look to it. Kind of like the album itself it has a tendency to grow on you.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

FS: I always like to give a different answer to this one. There are so many artists I would love to collaborate with and the reasons why are unique to each one. But seeing as half the band members are die hard Metallica fans, I’m going to go with them on this one. I think it would be a great experience to work with artists that have influenced so many of us. They are also extremely versatile and open minded to experimenting with new sounds which is what Fatal Switch is all about. Plus, their grooves are some of the best on the planet and I think that would mesh really well with the songs we create.

How has your latest release been received?

FS: Our latest release and single both titled Doctors & Demons has been doing really well so far. We found some amazing fans across the globe and our music video resonated really well in Mexico. Its very interesting to see where your music can take off and how it can affect people. It’s pretty hard to believe that I have actually made a mark on the world with my music and its one of the most gratifying feelings I’ve ever had. All our videos have gotten air time on national TV, great response on YouTube and we are now hitting the AM/FM airwaves so everything seems to be falling into place. We also get to have amazing conversations with gracious people such as yourself and that really helps to get the word of Fatal Switch out to the masses. As things keep developing, we continue to look forward to various journeys that await us.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

FS: All of my songs are written in a story format so they all have a lot of meaning and playback value to them. The concept of Fatal Switch is about a young woman named Sian who runs away from home after living a life filled with domestic abuse. On her adventures of finding herself she discovers that she has an alter ego named Hyde that lives inside her head. So, the track Doctors & Demons was the first song that actually gave birth to this split personality and character named Sian Hyde. The song is about deception in love. A man who falls in love with Sian slowly realizes that though she promised to help cure him of his illness she was in fact the one poisoning him and making him ill. The prevalent theme of duality presents itself in this song as you only see the one perspective of the male lover. Tt has an underlying question of what the truth and reality of the situation really is. Could it be that he is paranoid delusional and Sian was in fact trying to help him or was Sian in fact trying to harm the man that she claimed to love.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

FS: None at the moment. We are in red alert lock down for COVID-19 right now. All tours have been postponed until further notice.

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

FS: Whiskey a Go Go in L.A seems like a spot where all the greats have preformed and I’d really like a chance to play there one day. I feel like it’s a place where a lot of bands play right before they blow up so I’m hoping it might be our lucky charm to worldwide fame.

What else can we expect from in 2020?

FS: We will continue to promote the first album and get as much visibility as possible. We have some cool lyric videos in the works and more rocking interviews like this one on the way. Hopefully we can hit a major radio station or two and chart it hard. All the pieces are finally in play so we are just caught in the moment of keeping busy and productive trying to keep the momentum going forward one push at a time.
