Single Review: The Damned – Keep ‘Em Alive

Green And Pleasant Damned.

Filmed in a slightly hippy trippy visual concoction, our endearing friends The Damned are at one with nature showcasing their new single ‘Keep ‘Em Alive’ and by crikey it’s like Christmas. They use this opportunity to highlight the state of the planet and what we should be doing to save it. The birds and the bees- ahem- feature in this deceptively sweet and charming ditty, that hides the abhorrence we are faced with. The man with the ‘booming fuck off voice’ returns ( sigh….swoon..faint….) and honestly these guys are fiendishly stylish, rudimentary yet complex, encompassing all the elements of God tier songwriting and recording. With Monty Oxymoron tinkling the ivories, timely rhythmic sensations with the guitars, drums and bass, this is very welcome from a band who never disappoint. With each note we remember and celebrate their ingenuity and pioneering spirit, if you still don’t understand why they are still around, then give your head a wobble.
With the sky above, valley below and The Damned in between, what a time to be alive!
