Jessica Faroe would like to remind you that she’s still out there, still creating visual and aural works. You might remember her from such EPs as “Awaken” from back in 2017 when she blazed onto the scene with four tracks combining Carmilla, Unveil, IGNITE, Yallows, Peter Hamer, Black Sabbath, etc, but with breathy, sultry, clean vocals. Don’t let the cover determine what this book contains! She says she’s a headbanger and delivers in spades!
A multi-instrumentalist self-described as “dedicated to making music that connects with people”, “Beautiful” is as far from “Awaken” as you can get. On “Beautiful” we are presented with a nu-skule R’n’B-styled bass-driven piece of swirly-waved synth-pop in the same style as Meresha and Pearly Gatecrashers.
The new release also includes a video of empowerment set in the English countryside. It features 21 people displaying messages of positivity; the pregnant lady awakened all my feels! Lyrically, it’s about not being afraid to be your true self. Don’t apologise and stop letting the world get to you – other people’s judgement is their problem, not yours!
Jessica Faroe is certainly a multi-faceted musician and, if she ever decides to make an album it will be interesting to see what she selects! Radio that doesn’t pick up “Beautiful” to encourage such a star is part of the problem, not a solution to it!
