The Portsmouth based, indie rock trio, ‘Paraffin’ will be releasing their catchy new single ‘Black and Blue’ on the 14th August 2020.
The evocative single sees, Billie Tee, Tom Chapman and Tyler Adams flexing their musical talent to create an emotional canvas of energy and sound.
The ‘Black and Blue’ single pulses on the fear and pain of heartbreak, ebbing deep into this raw human emotion to fuel and drive the track in a blazing glow of cathartic energy.
Paraffin vocalise the pain of watching the person you love falling for someone else, feeling their way through the struggle with carefully written lyrics and punchy guitar riffs that add depth and texture to the crashing emotion that powers the single.
The impressive amount of work that has gone into the band’s self-production pays off with every lyric, providing a cacophony of emotion relative to the heartbreak (‘You left me here with someone else/ a guy that looked nothing like me’).
Refreshingly, the single doesn’t have the self-pity that many other tracks of heartbreak do, alternatively deciding to pour the genuine emotion out in a stream of indie rock energy.
On the musicality of the track, Tom said: “Black and Blue is a balladic track that blends
subtly with a hard-hitting rock sound.
“The vocal delivery throughout the verse paints an emotional picture, then explodes in the chorus alongside the cacophony of noise created by crashing drums, and distorted guitars”.
Exercising their sound, Paraffin use the single to show the world a slightly more clarified and vulnerable side to the trio, fully exposing the slightly softer, sensitive sound.
‘Black and Blue’ follows their two previous singles ‘Flick the Switch’ and ‘Make You Stay’ which have gained over 100,000 Spotify streams over 6 months.
The single will be released on the 14th August 2020 so make sure to give their other tracks a listen whilst we wait for the ‘Black and Blue’ release!
