In the age of streaming music on every conceivable platform lest we not forget the Music Video. Musicians have always filmed there performances from Al Jolsen to the Andrew Sisters, Bing Crosby to The Beatles, The Stones to Abba. It wasn’t until MTV blasted onto the scene with Video Killed The Radio Star, the very first Music Video was shown on TV 1 August 1981 and it revolutionised how music got out and fans could see their favourite bands perform and act for the very first time. MTV ruled the airwaves with music videos of all sorts, VH1, BET and CMT followed suite (soon to become part of MTV Networks), other Music Video shows popped up but did not last too long. Slowly MTV debuted the Reality show along with other programmes and Music Videos started to take a back seat until there were little to non left on MTV. Now MTV is filled with half arsed reality shows and dumb stunts shot on video. YouTube stepped up for artists along with others including VeVo, but there was really nothing else out there like MTV until now JDtv…. Indie Music Television~!
