LOVEDAY follows her current single ‘I Can’t Dance’ by sharing a new remix of the track by London producer Sammy Porter.
Sammy Porter completely reinvents ‘I Can’t Dance’, switching the lurching dub rhythms of the original for electrifying house energy along with punchier bass and beats. Impressively, LOVEDAY’s distinctive topline is equally confident in either setting, demonstrating that the 20-year-old commands a versatility that can open doors in the future.
“This remix has elevated the song into a completely different dimension” says LOVEDAY. “With my parents both being in the nightclub industry, I was raised on house music. After drifting from the genre, this remix helped me rediscover a forgotten love. When I first heard this track I couldn’t keep still, I’m so grateful to Sammy for taking this song so far in a direction that I wasn’t sure it would reach”.
Sammy Porter has become a force on the underground scene. He’s hit big numbers on tracks including ‘Talking Like Friends’, ‘What We Started (A Bit Patchy)’ and ‘Let Your Love’, all of which were released on MistaJam’s Speakerbox label. Between his featured artists and remixes, Porter has collaborated with the likes of Clean Bandit, Liv Dawson and James Hype. He’s also the label boss and main resident at Lovejuice, a regular on Rinse FM and an internationally in-demand DJ.
Hailing from the Midlands, LOVEDAY blends alt-pop, lo-fi and electronic influences with lyrics that explore the growing pains of love, friendship, adventure and finding your place in the world. Her first breakthrough moment came when ‘Breathless (Like This)’ hit #1 at HypeM and was shared by The Chainsmokers. She organically developed her profile with subsequent releases including her debut EP ‘Temporal Experiment, No 1’ and remixes from Initial Talk (Dua Lipa, Perfume Genius) and Sofus Weine.
LOVEDAY’s open-minded passion for music has seen her engage in all kinds of other activities. She writes for other artists, has been a resident DJ at Leicester nightclub Mosh, and recently engaged in an unusual tech challenge for Channel 5’s ‘The Gadget Show’. LOVEDAY’s previous acclaim for her previous track ‘Superficial Life’ included praise from Jessie Ware, who chose to play on Huw Stephens’ show, plus support from Jamz Supernova, Tom Robinson and BBC Introducing. She also competed in a head-to-head music battle with AI deep fake technology to see which of the two would deliver a stronger performance. Naturally she won – as judged by NME’s Jordan Bassett.
