Single Review: The Wolf Howls When I Scream Your Name – The Wild Turns

Alternative, indie rock trio, ‘The Wolf Howls When I Scream Your Name’ are releasing their independent new track ‘The Wild Turns’.

It is due to be released on the 21st July 2020 and shows a much lighter and melancholy side to the band.

‘The Wild Turns’ mediates on a mellow pace, completely void of any haste or negativity, liquidating the passion behind the lyrics to drip from every soothing lyric and note.

With an emotionally moving blend of harmonies, every element of the song ebbs into the ambient soundscape of the track.

From the quiet crashes of symbols to the steady thud of the drum ‘The Wild Turns’ taps into the perfect balance of power and calm, allowing the lighter side of the band to gleam through without affecting the overall sound that they create.

Singer Matty Awbery says “The Wild Turns is probably the most positive song I’ve ever

written, I was listening to a lot of The Smashing Pumpkins at the time it was written and

I think that shows, I think it was actually the second song I ever wrote for this band but

we only recorded it last year.

“It’s kind of a celebration of who you are, there’s definitely a sense of melancholy in it but yeah it was just a stream of consciousness like the rest of them.”

The trio, made up of Matty Awbery (Vocals, Guitar), Harry Woodrow (Bass) and Sam Johnson (Drums) – will be releasing a full-length debut album in 2021 followed by a national tour and shows throughout the year.

For now, however, ‘The Wild Turns’ is definitely one to get excited over and is out now alongside the music video. Check it out on Spotify below!
