Following on from the release of her heavily praised singles Bali, No Talk and Silver Spoon over the last few months, fast-rising Swedish pop star Ellen Krauss has now delivered her eagerly-awaited new EP Pearl through Tiller Inc. licensed to BMG Recorded Music.
Featuring her previously shared offerings as well as the newly unveiled lead single New York and the previously unheard cut Often, Pearl sets itself as a wonderfully bright and forward-thinking slice of alt-pop brilliance. Capping off her latest collection, New York sees the singer in a far more stripped-back guise, yet still fills this final release with her usual dose of light and upbeat musical beauty.
Speaking about New York, Ellen says, New York is about dreaming and following your passion. The song is quite cocky, but thats okay. Its alright to be proud and think big sometimes.
While adding about Often, Often is about that moment when you meet someone and all you wanna do is just run away with them. Take a shot and go home together. Maybe even discover something new and unexpected.”Pearl” is my treasure that I have been working on for a long time explains Ellen. It is a collection of songs that are warm to my heart, written during both good and bad moments in my life. I’ve been carrying the music with me for a long time and I’ve been looking forward to sharing them, so it feels good that it’s finally time!
Pearl is the long-awaited follow-up to her highly-acclaimed debut EP, First Take in November last year, which has already amassed over 15 million streams. The EP release followed a run of singles, including Let Me Have it, Criminal To Love, On The Bus and The One I Love, which picked up acclaim from tastemakers like CLASH, Indie Shuffle, 1883 Magazine, Fault Magazine, When The Horn Blows, London In Stereo, Variance Magazine and many more. Last year, Ellen also made her TV debut on Swedens SVT, and recently wrapped up a tour with Miriam Bryant, playing 16 shows across Sweden (800 – 6500 capacity venues).
At just 19 years old, Ellen Krauss has already received praise from some of the worlds biggest musical icons, such as super producer Max Martin and pop star Carly Rae Jepsen, and been awarded the Rookie Artist of the Year at the Denniz Pop Awards in Sweden, as voted for by a panel including pop sensations Tove Lo and Laleh. Her debut single and LGBTQ acceptance anthem, The One I Love, has racked up over 7 million total global streams since its release last year, and was added to over 1,500 playlists, including Spotifys New Music Friday (Sweden).
Entirely self-taught, Ellen has been flexing her musical skills since the age of four, and she spent most of her youth writing songs in her bedroom in Stockholm, or in South Africa where her family occasionally lived. Inspired by a diverse group of artists such as Ed Sheeran, King Princess, Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen, her music is also imbued with the rebellious spirit of youth. She is outspoken about LGBTQ equality, womens rights, and pushes back against the traditional social structures that a young girl should fit into. It all manifests in her charismatic, playful and thoughtful songwriting. I want to look at what makes us similar, Ellen says about her music, and try and bring people together.
Keep up with Ellen on her socials for more music, touring updates, and additional exciting news to be announced.
