How do you tackle a British classic with a remix thats already ingrained the culture of the last 30 years? Ewan Pearson new take on Happy Monday’s ‘Hallelujah’ sounds fresh from bringing Kirsty MacColls backing vocals from the Steve Lillywhite mix to the fore, while protecting and updating the dirty groove and piano of Weatherall and Oakenfolds Club Mix. The darker synth bass makes it remarkably easy to slip into a contemporary set, with its lo-slung robotic funk. Shaun William Ryder remains high in the mix, never sounding better, or head to the dub to get twisted into the dark throb.
