Single Review: Common Saints – Idol Eyes

With lockdown stress getting the best of many of us right now, London producer, Common Saints has a cure.

Branching off from producing and working with huge artists, Common Saints will be releasing a debut solo project EP, starting with the release of the ‘Idol Eyes’ single.

It is inexplicably soothing and mediates a perfect blend of R&B and psychedelic pop into an almost five-minute track. Soulful vocal hooks soar above the warm bass of the track in an ethereal show of glimmering diversity.

Every element of this project is calming and audibly picturesque as Common Saints adds: “Idol eyes’ is a journey through a Utopian world. Dusty drums and Pink Floyd like guitars.

“The chorus lyric “We wanna make love, we wanna get high” kind of boils down some of the most simplistic drives of mankind.”

By embracing the escapism many of us crave, the refreshing earworm blooms into a unique blend of genres that doesn’t shy from musical experimentation.

The psychedelic naturality and atmosphere in ‘Idol Eyes’ is infectious, pushing you to sit back, relax and enjoy the musical trip.

The single is out now, however, the rest of the five-track EP will not be available until the 30th of October 2020.
