JESUS HOOLIGAN liberates the ‘Swamp Stomp’ E.P

JESUS HOOLIGAN

‘SWAMP STOMP’

8/10

Avast ye! Jesus Hooligan is back with a six-track E.P to rattle the internal organs and shake that box set binged skull. The original pirate chanting punk has rolled out the dog eared barrel for another round of infectious cathartic tribal cuts. Opener ‘Rain’ bounces across Jesus Hooligan’s wild musical terrain with the chanted chorus/verse evokes Lion King nightmares as baby Simba is musically torn limb from limb by a meth-addicted Shenzi while his father, Mufasa is forced to watch at a big hunters gunpoint. Next up is the emotive flogging beat that is  ‘Love Of My Life’ before ‘I Can’t Get Enough’ pounds and pounds the senses with a red bull fuelled heartbeat and some hellish deep ‘n’ throaty note holding. ‘WomanGirl ManBoy’ flicks between male and female vocals before with a Lord Of The Flies ceremonial tub thump before ‘Yeah’ induces some Wigwam marching and pipe of peace smoking. The final cut of six is the outback barking and didgeridoo dancing ‘Harry’s Song’. Jesus Hooligan remains on a different path and in a world smothered with middle of the road musical conformity, it’s a pretty refreshing walk.
