Album Review: New Found Glory – Forever + Ever x Infinity

On the 19th June 2020, New Found Glory are releasing their smashing new album, ‘Forever + Ever x Infinity’.

Having had so much success over the years, New Found Glory understand what their huge fanbase wants and meet these expectations in flying pop-punk colours.

The 15-track album is exactly what we needed to blast away those lockdown blues through the infectious beats, gritty riffs and classic, feel-good melodies. So, get your air guitars ready, warn the neighbours and crank the volume to the max because New Found Glory are here, and they aren’t holding back!

Crashing through the speakers, in pure nostalgic glory is the first track ‘Shook By Your Shaved Head’. The classic New Found Glory track has your blood pumping and arms in the air in no time.

This energy is carried straight into ‘Greatest of all Time’, pushed by the impressively speedy drum beat and catchy feel-good chorus. The band know exactly how to work fans into a frenzy and recreate that feeling of concert adrenaline in a matter of seconds.

The surge of unyielding pop-punk drama fills the room as the album continues with ‘Double Chin for the win’ and ‘Nothing to say’.

With a striking intensity and distinctive way with words, the band allow each of these tracks to become relatable – in one way or another, to fans. ‘Stay a While’ is also no exception to this, detailing the excitement, nervousness and risk of ‘putting your heart on a plate’ in a new relationship.

One of the louder tracks of the album, ‘Himalaya’ is powered by the impressive speed of the drums and calls for everyone to sick a middle finger up at those who doubt you.

Despite dabbling with new sounds earlier in the album, New Found Glory return in true pop-punk fashion with ‘Like I Never Existed’ – revisiting their classic sound again.

It is a slightly heavier song with relatable lyrics about being ghosted and feeling like you don’t matter after a relationship, but the upbeat rhythm makes it a danceable track!

‘More And More’ offers a bit of a break from the craziness that is ‘Forever + Ever x Infinity’. The pace slows down dramatically in this heartfelt love song, and the touching lyrics show a whole new side to New Found Glory.

However, it springs back into action with ‘Do You Want To Settle Down’, an adrenaline-fuelled song about commitment, revisiting the pop-punk sound we know and love.

A definite stand out track on the album is ‘The Way You Deserve?’, a fun song about love and self-worth. It’s a catchy song with big choruses that one can only hope will make it on to their next setlist!

‘Trophy’ is a bit of a conflicting track. Despite being about not wanting to objectify someone, the lyrics imply the girl is a prize, saying: ‘I feel like a winner when I’m standing by you.” Nevertheless, it’s a catchy, well-executed track with an addictive beat.
