Metalcore band The Ghost Inside are releasing their new self-titled album on 5th June! This will be the band’s fifth studio album and taps in to all the emotions felt after their tragic bus accident in 2015 which claimed the lives of both drivers. It is a personal yet relatable listen about reflecting on what happened but focusing on growth and moving forward.
The album begins with ‘1333’, a short but powerful piece with electrifying guitar riffs and roaring vocals. It’s an ideal warm up for what is yet to come…
Nothing can prepare you for the explosion that is ‘Still Alive’. It is an intense yet empowering listen about not giving up, but a shock to the system nonetheless! Their latest single ‘Pressure Point’ is another fast paced track about the fake sympathy they received following the accident. It is a heavy song laced with angst that adequately expresses the band’s frustrations, a feeling that continues on in to ‘Overexposure’.
As you edge towards the middle of the album, the pace begins to slow slightly. ‘Make Or Break’ starts this off and it is cemented by the extended introduction of ‘Unseen’. It’s an unexpected change of tone, but one that gives you chance to breathe before the drums gradually come creeping in and the intensity of the first half is readopted.
‘One Choice’ abandons that momentary softness and embraces an alternative, heavier rock sound. The chorus is unlike any of the other tracks on the album and really accentuates Jonathan Vigil’s raw vocals.
Finishing off the album is ‘Aftermath’. This track tells the story of the tragic bus accident and is an incredibly poignant yet cathartic listen. It exposes their pain in a way that is relatable to the listeners despite the circumstances being so personal to them. This album was a long awaited comeback for their fans, and it was worth the wait.
