Lilla Vargen shares new track ‘Love You Twice’

Lilla Vargen’s latest single ‘Cold’ continued the young Irish artist’s rise when it was featured as part of Mollie King’s Best New Pop on Radio 1. It adds to her rush of breaking accomplishments, which have so far included 20 million+ streams, seven Top 15 New Music Friday UK placements at Spotify, and a huge European tour as guest to Dermot Kennedy.

Now Lilla shares the studio version of ‘Love You Twice’, a song that’s already a highlight of her live shows and a firm fan favourite.

Written solely by Lilla, ‘Love You Twice’ reveals the full power of her world class vocal talent. It’s perfectly poised, exquisitely powerful and expressive beyond her years. It’s a voice of someone who feels and means every word that she sings. The production, courtesy of MyRiot (London Grammar, Halsey) allows Lilla the space to shine, with subtle instrumentation amplifying the song’s emotional resonance.

Lyrically, ‘Love You Twice’ reflects on a romance that could’ve been so much more. But while there’s a yearning to recapture what was lost, it also expresses the strength to accept that there’s no going back.

“I wrote this song in my room on my guitar about a year ago. Love You Twice is about having a second chance with someone and trying to find the common ground that you build that relationship on. I put it in my live set towards the end of last year and it always got a beautiful reaction, so I’m really excited to share the studio version with everyone” says Lilla.

Hailing from Ballymena, Lilla Vargen left for London to follow her calling in music. She writes songs rich with emotion and empathy, a quality that builds a connection with a following that suffered or survived the issues that she explores. Full of passion yet never overstated, her vocal illuminates the heart of those stories. With a big year ahead of her, Lilla is making quite the impression. Early tracks such as ‘Why Wait’, Solitary, and ‘Downtown’ have accumulated millions of streams.

Although Lilla’s headline tour has been rescheduled to October (with gigs in London and Dublin moved to bigger venues, and the addition of a show in Belfast), she’s found other ways to showcase her remarkable ability as a live performer. She recently shared live-streamed sessions with tmrw and Mahogany, and also unveiled a stunning acapella take on ‘Cold’ which was recorded pre-lockdown at the Brompton Chapel with the London Contemporary Voices choir.
