Boomtown, a festival that combines music and theatre like no other, has announced the fourth in its series of district lineups for Metropolis. For Chapter 12, this futuristic themed district which welcomes the public into ‘an advanced society that subscribes to the utopian dream’, is introducing a brand new main stage, Zenith, showcasing the very best in house and disco.
Zenith has a jam packed programme full of laser reaching beats that are guaranteed to fill the dance floor. Opening the stage and bringing Zenith to life for the first time, is the return of Little Gay Brother who will again be hosting the stage creating a space filled with inclusive vibes the whole festival long! Thursday will see them host a full LGB takeover with Gerd Janson and Luke Solomon, alongside stallwart party providers from the Little Gay Brother residents. Friday will see the world-renowned 21st-century disco Glitterbox descend on Zenith, with its army of fierce drag performers, epic confetti showers and dance music to move your mind, body and soul. King of the disco Joey Negro will be joined by Horse Meat Disco, Crazy P, Simon Dunmore, Shapeshifters and Melvo Baptiste for some truly unforgettable dancefloor moments.
On Saturday, the experimental DJ KiNK will be closing the stage with his captivating live show. Skream returns again this time bringing the House and Disco flavours whilst Dutch house pioneers Detroit Swindle will be laying down the finest house alongside Glasgow’s up and coming star Big Miz. On Sunday, Folamour, part of the recent renaissance of young French House and Disco producers, will curate an amazing line-up covering the whole spectrum of musical offerings. He is joined by Nightmares on wax for some of the finest electronic music, one of the most promising artists from the scene, Laurence Guy and rising star Mafalda.
Also in Metropolis is one of Boomtown’s time-honoured venues Little Pharma. This venue is dedicated to dance and electronic music with artists that includes the likes of Afghan Headspin, Count Bassy B2B Fizzy Gillespie, Mackie (Slang Banger/Pixel Fist), Mafia Kiss, Monk3ylogic, Mr Trout, Saucy Takeover ft. Pelikann & Barely Royal, The Autobots, Toronto Is Broken and Weeble.
The full spectrum of Electronic music has long been a key genre for Boomtown and this year is no different and no less exhilarating. The Metropolis announcement follows the recent release of AREA 404; which features world-renowned artists including Squarepusher, Orbital and Underworld, The Black Madonna, ANNA, Helena Hauff, to Eats Everything and Denis Sulta. Plus 10 yrs of Butterz label featuring Champion & MC Serious, DJ Q, Elijah & Skilliam, as well as Flava D, Joker, Jubilee, Royal T and Sir Spyro. True dubstep originator, Caspa, will be bringing a dynamic range of underground sounds to the stage with Slimzee, Truth, Crazy D and Sgt Pokes amongst others.
