Sister Act
The dynamic force of the female of the species is on show here as our friends Rosie Bones and Carmen Vandenberg put it to you that ‘Beautiful Is Boring’ in their breathtakingly melancholic sound, measured and purposeful that tells us we should embrace our differences.
There’s no fun in being the same as everyone, we each have a story to tell and we should not be afraid. Rosie has an unusual voice, I sense Janis Joplin, maybe I’m being over-zealous, I get the feeling that audiences will be weeping and wailing at the end of their shows in a Hallelujah kinda way. The graceful violin sonata to begin is tranquil, and anticipatory as you are not really sure where this is headed.
‘Pretty Waste’ highlights the body image issues that have blighted our lives, the need to look perfect and blemish free is suffocating. The rap style intro adds interest when you incorporate influences from other genres, it is a funky fusion ladies and gents and a one to watch. At the finish line is ‘Souls’ and the desire to ‘make memories with all of you’ is generous and fulfilling.
This taster plate is an advance warning to the full scale attack due out shortly, a sort of reconnaissance if you will, to size up the crowd, case the joint and implement suitable tactics.
If the ‘Filthy Freaks’ have anything to do with it, ‘Black Blood’ will flow.
