CREEPER’s resurrection gathers pace as they prepare to release their eagerly anticipated second album ‘SEX, DEATH & THE INFINITE VOID’ on May 22nd. They first burst back on the scene with ‘Born Cold’, a track which captured the attention of fans including Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter, who played it three times in a row. Now CREEPER further preview the album by unveiling the new track ‘ANNABELLE’.
With ‘ANNABELLE’, CREEPER have crafted a rich rush of black-hearted rock ‘n’ roll topped by one of the band’s patented, sky-scraping hooks. After ‘Born Cold’ opened the band’s new narrative by introducing lead character Roe in its accompanying video, in this track we now meet Annabelle, the story’s female protagonist. Annabelle is due to marry the richest man in town, but this song finds her meeting Roe for the first time in Lulu’s Tavern, a seedy bar in the fictional town of Calvary Falls.
“‘Annabelle’ was written in response to our experience with the Westboro Baptist Church whilst we were touring America,” says frontman Will Gould. “We’ve always proudly represented the so-called sinners, the weirdos, the outsiders and those who don’t feel like they fit in anywhere in this world. For many of our fans, our band is the one space they feel they CAN fit in. So we wrote them a satanic underworld anthem, a song to sing together in defiance. As the song says, ‘You’ve got to live a little when their world just wants you sad.’”
‘SEX, DEATH & THE INFINITE VOID’ is available to pre-order, with CDs, vinyl and various merch bundles all available from https://creepercult.co/sdiv_album.
Formed in Southampton, CREEPER quickly developed a die-hard following of fans. The CREEPER CULT quickly became enamoured with the band’s visionary hybrid of engaging narratives, striking theatricality and a sound simultaneously visceral, grandiose and adventurous.
CREEPER’s debut album ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’ shot straight into the Top 20, while early acclaim included Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards, Best New Band at the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, and Best British Newcomer in the Rock Sound readers’ poll.
The band’s touring in 2020 is taking shape, with a tour as guests to BABYMETAL coming ahead of their ‘God Can’t Save Us’ headline tour in April. They also recently announced that they will play Spain’s Mad Cool festival on July 8th.
