Vulnerable and utterly mesmerising, Matthew’s raw and relatable lyrics have captivated our ears and hearts since bursting onto the scene back in 2017 with the release of ‘Healing’. Since then, Matthew has garnered thousands of streams across streaming platforms and built on his ever-growing fan base.
The 23-year-old singer-songwriter, originates from a remote town on the west coast of Scotland. Having studied classical music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Matthew began writing and producing his own music from a young age. After leaving RCS, he was soon performing his own material at iconic venues around Glasgow including King Tuts and Buff Club.
When speaking on the track, Matthew stated: This track represents the heaviest I’ve ever gone in terms of production. Listening to other Scottish bands such as Fatherson, I was inspired to make this track as dense as possible within the realms of what a singer-songwriter can do on their own. The song is usually performed live with a band to fairly replicate the energy produced on this record but also works acoustically as despite its high energy still has meaningful lyrics.
Matthew is set to release I Don’t Know tomorrow on all streaming platforms January 17th.
