Dutch DJ, producer and label head Steve Void today signs off an extraordinary year of releases and collaborations with ‘The Seed’ EP, out now on Strange Fruits (via Virgin EMI). Listen here.
His final musical offering for 2019 features brand new track ‘Drunken Truth’ Ft. Andy Marsh as well as previously released fan favourite ‘Without You’ featuring LA rising star AUSTN, of which the music video also drops today.
2019 has been a remarkable year for 23-year-old Void, having collaborated with the likes of platinum-selling Louisa on their tropical smash ‘Ain’t Got You’, as well as jumping on remix duties for Lewis Capaldi (Bruises & Hold Me While You Wait), James Arthur (Quite Miss Home) and Ava Max (So Am I), all of which amassing 20 Million streams. Void’s hard-hitting, infectious dancefloor fillers have also received support from BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 1’s Dance Anthems and KISS FM.
At just 23 years old Steve’s streaming numbers speak for themselves, recently hitting 175 Million streams across all platforms, of which 60+ Million streams came in 2019 alone.
Speaking on the new EP and the past year, Steve said:
“The Seed EP represents my journey this year seeding melons. There have been some incredible moments in 2019 and I’ve grown as an artist. It’s also been so exciting to work with so many talented artists from Louisa, AUSTN and remixes for the likes of Lewis Capaldi, James Arthur, Ava Max and many more. Closing the year with almost 2 times more unique monthly fans totalling 3 million is just crazyyyy alongside all the other things we were allowed to achieve in 2019”.
Void’s talents and ambitions started from a young age. At 10 years old he got his first piece of production software, and by 14 he’d thrown himself into dance music, having picked up a job in the coatroom of a local nightclub. From there, he went onto study at the Herman Brood Academie, a notorious music production school in Utrecht, known for recently producing Martin Garrix. It wasn’t long before his career trajectory started to ascend rapidly, notably remixing The Weeknd’s “I Can’t Feel My Face” (nearly 10 million streams to date).
Festival slots followed but Void wanted to harness the momentum he had built into something else. He didn’t want to be just another DJ sucked into the circuit. He took a step back and forged a plan to move forward as an artist that was unique and in no way replaceable. Strange Fruits was born. Eye Wateringly productive, the label – who’ve surpassed 350 Million streams globally – was set-up to be an artist-friendly platform to spread the word of emerging dance and pop acts and is currently one of the fastest-growing independent dance labels.
Seeing no signs of slowing down, Void is poised and ready to jump straight into 2020 with his arsenal of floor-filling, feel-good dance bangers.
