Progressive duo NOVA CHARISMA have shared ‘Gemini’- the lead single from their upcoming release Exposition II, out 7th February on via Rude Records / Equal Vision Records.
‘Gemini’ showcases a lush sonic soundscape incorporating spacey electronic elements with bursting guitars and singer Donovan Melero’s signature vocal style. Lyrically, the song is about falling back in love with someone that you know you shouldn’t and was heavily inspired by The Offspring’s 1992 classic ‘Session’. The accompanying visual for the track, directed by Raul Gonzo (IDKHOW, PVRIS), explores the notion of creating an alternate reality through the use of illusions propelled by bold colour and geometric shapes.
Following on the heels of NOVA CHARISMA‘s debut, Exposition I, the vinyl for which sold out this summer before fans heard even a single note of music, Exposition II finds the duo of Donovan Melero (Hail The Sun) and Sergio Medina (Royal Coda) continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression. Produced by Mike Watts, Exposition II dives into the idea of the chase – whether it’s chasing someone you shouldn’t, being chased by a figure in a nightmare or chasing after something you want and not getting it. There’s a sense of urgency, isolation and disillusionment found throughout the four-song collection. ‘Diary (Don’t Speak)’ leads with an eerie tone accentuated by lyrics based on the fear of secrets being revealed after one’s death. ‘Hoxton’, in it’s abruptness, still manages to bring something fresh to the listener’s ear and the collection’s closer, ‘Sonya’, find the duo drawing from their post-hardcore roots with spasmodic tempo changes and high-pitched vocals wailing at the chorus.
The band will headline five shows in North America this December and have announced a one-off London UK headliner on 17th January 2020 at Old Blue Last.

On the release, Donovan Melero stated: “Exposition II came together in a secluded area in the quiet city of Port Jefferson, NY. This collection of songs illustrated a departure from the chaotic instrumentation that we have always aligned ourselves with. “Gemini” represents this step on new ground.”
