The Deadnotes Announce New Album ‘Courage’ + Share Video For ‘Hopeless Romantic’

Freiburg, Germany-based indie-punks THE DEADNOTES are pleased to announce their new album ‘Courage’will bereleased 14th February 2020 through their own newly-established label 22Lives Records.

To celebrate the news the band have shared a new single from the album, titled ‘Hopeless Romantic’, together with a spirited new tongue-in-cheek music video which see’s the band perform on a chat show where they are joined by a panel of dubious personalities.

Commenting on the video lead singer Darius Lohmüller explained: “Hopeless Romantic is presented live at the “22Lives Late Night Show“ with obviously over-exaggerated talk show guests which nevertheless don’t seem to be too far-fetched from real life. People like these really do exist. They walk around and talk a ton of nonsense on TV and the radio and spread it unchallenged in numerous comment sections”.

Recorded at Crooked Rain Recording Studios in Leeds, the new album ‘Courage’ was produced by Bob Cooper (WSTRDucking Punches,Nervus), mixed by Beau Burchell (SaosinThe Bronx), and mastered by Mike Kalajian (SaosinPrawnBouncing Souls).

With reflective and self-explorative lyrical themes, the band has in the past been pigeon-holed musically as an emo-band. Something, that the band are keen to move away from on this latest full-length release – especially given the state of world politics, as Darius explains:

“Emo is a genre that lyrically solely reflects on inner struggles and general world weariness. This simply isn’t enough anymore. The world and its political landscape can be very disillusioning sometimes, but it‘s so important to put your anger and frustration into action and try and make changes for the better”

“The toxic capitalist system we‘re all currently living in primarily promotes competition. Politics and industry tell fairy tales of endless economical growth in a world with obviously limited resources. If we‘d instead focus more on connecting people and working together than competing with each other I believe there can achieve a more desirable endless growth. Endless growth of positivity, creativity and great ideas” he adds.

Still in their early 20s, the list of achievements that The Deadnotes have racked up over the last few years is astonishing. They formed the band at just 14 years of age and haven’t taken a moment’s rest since, self-releasing both an EP and their debut album, and relentlessly touring through over 25 European countries.

Sharing the stage with Boston ManorDon BrocoBeach SlangThe Front BottomsSuch Gold, and many more, the band recently played their 500th live show—a remarkable feat for such a young band, and one that more than earns them their DIY stripes.

The Deadnotes join popular German punk act Adam Angst this week for a series of club shows and will continue their relentless touring schedule in 2020. To support the release of ‘Courage’ the band will take to the road for an extensive run of shows drawing in crowds across Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Switzerland before coming to an end in April with three specially selected UK dates.
