British glam rockers The Struts have shared the brand new video for ‘Tatler Magazine’, which premiered on its namesake’s website today. The release comes just ahead of their UK headline tour, which starts this Friday in Manchester and includes a date at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on the 16th.
Cutting between shots of the band performing and singer Luke Spiller enjoying lavish luxury amid a Napa Valley vineyard, the track is an anthemic ode to the finer things in life.
“I remember coming home from the pub I was staying at with my parents for a few days,” explains Luke. “I stumbled into the lounge where my mum was watching a documentary on Tatler Magazine. After watching a few episodes, I was immediately inspired and went to my piano where I started to bash out the bare bones of the song’s chorus and feel. After a few hours, I decided to put it to one side thinking it was too ‘musical theatre’ for the band.
“However, after a sudden creative drought in Los Angeles where we were writing, I decided to suggest working on something fun, free and without any real musical boundaries. I told Jed about the idea and he showed real enthusiasm towards the song. Quickly we got to work and finished it in about 45 minutes. Lyrically this song has some absolute gems but dare I say, ‘I’ll fly privately bon voyage economy’, is one of my best to date!”
The release follows the band’s similarly flamboyant video for ‘I Do It So Well’, which they shared last week. The videos set the scene perfectly for their upcoming UK shows, which will see them take their attitude-drenched rock to Manchester, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Norwich, London, Cardiff, Leicester and Bournemouth.
Their most recent album, YOUNG&DANGEROUS, saw the band lauded with praise from both sides of the Atlantic, including from The Washington Times, who proclaimed them “the best rock ‘n’ roll band of the 21st century”. And their recent single ‘Body Talks’ featuring Kesha was recently used in the trailer to launch the BBC’s flagship show Strictly Come Dancing.
February saw a triumphant run of UK shows which garnered rave reviews from the likes of The Guardian, Kerrang, Record Collector, Classic Rock and more, and this month’s tour is only set to be bigger and better.
They have no intention of slowing down either, with further gigs across North America including two huge sold-out shows in Philadelphia at the end of December and a show before their biggest crowd to date – several hundred thousand – at an open-air New Year’s Eve party in Nashville before they head back into the studio to begin work on their third album at the start of 2020.
