Croydon-based sludge pop/alt-rock four piece, Bellevue Days, are delighted to announce that their debut album It Can’t Possibly Go Wrong Ever will be released on 22nd November 2019. The album is available to preorder now from: https://www.bellevuedaysmusic.com/
“It seems like the whole world is kinda falling apart in every direction you look, doesn’t it?” says Bellevue Days vocalist Alan Smith matter-of-factly, commenting on the inspiration for the new record.
“For me personally, I took a long look at the world around me and I just kinda realised how f*cked up it’s become. I usually try to steer away from politics in music; I ain’t no Bob Dylan (just yet). I find it hard not to put my personal experiences and feelings into songs—from depression, to family issues, to deaths—as that’s usually the only thing I can really go off, but on this record there are a few more stories which I imagine from other people’s points of view, which was an interesting and refreshing perspective.”
To celebrate the news, the quartet have revealed a video for brand new single ‘SHOTGUN’ which sees them stealing their own album ahead of release in a tongue-in-cheek parody of the Martin Shkreli and Wu Tang Clan legal case.
Commenting on the single and video, directed by friend of the band Tom Carnell, vocalist Alan Smith says: “This is the first song we wrote for the album. Unusually for us, it was born from a major jam sesh late one spring evening. When Dan first hit those chords I knew he was onto something big. It was like we were four puzzle pieces fitting together perfectly. It was sludgy as hell. Juxtaposed with the serious nature of the song’s subject matter, we wanted to take a more lighthearted route with the video by just having a bit of fun and furthering our acting careers…Brad Pitt better watch out!”
The band have so far released two highly-praised EPs—2016’s Sad Boy and 2017’s Rosehill—for which the band saw a huge swell of support at national press, gaining coverage from The Independent, Kerrang! Magazine, Rock Sound, DIY, Upset and Dork.
Their single ‘Ripped Jeans’ was picked as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in The World on Beats 1, and spent 6 weeks on the Kerrang! Radio playlist, with further spins at BBC Radio 1, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Soho Radio, and many more specialist shows.
Bellevue Days have previously appeared at 2000 Trees, Citadel, Oberkampf Music Festival, PWER Festival, with further lives dates alongside mewithoutYou, Twin Atlantic, Mallory Knox, Jamie Lenman, PATRONS, Vukovi and The Young Hearts. Kicking off 2019 with two high-profile support tours alongside transatlantic rockers As It Is and Canadian alternative duo Rare Americans, further live dates will be revealed over the coming months.
