Album Review: Sleeping With Sirens – How It Feels To Be Alone

Sleeping With Sirens are a band that aren’t going to be for everyone. Admittedly I was initially very sceptical of them as Kellin Quinn’s vocals are a very acquired taste, certainly something that you will get on board with or not. I’m therefore happy to say that this album is a cracker which fizzes with energy all of the way through.

“Leave It All Behind” is an opening which makes a heck of a bold statement. Whilst the distinctive sound of Quinn’s voice is prominent throughout this record, breakdowns that are filled in every track, really make this an enticing listen.
You can expect to hear “Agree To Disagree” at your local pop punk some time soon. It’s incredibly catchy and is something that the fans are definitely going to lap up.

If anything the second half of the album is even better than the first. “Break Me Down ” sounds like Hybrid Theory-era Linkin Park and is one of the strongest songs on the album. The screams towards the end are very reminiscent of the Kate Chester Bennington and that is certainly a high compliment. “Medicine (Ghost In My Head)” is another great slice of rock which seems to blend about four other genres during its duration. You’ve got punk, a bit of pop, a bit of dance and pure metal.

For any cynics out there who bundled SWS in with the standard emocore category just like me, this is one to prove the naysayers wrong.
