London based trio Glass Peaks have unveiled their third single of the year – ‘Asbestos’, their debut release on These Bloody Thieves Records. The track sees the band once again pushing their limits further when it comes to their unique dark indie sound.
“Asbestos is about second guessing yourself in love. It’s about realizing that things aren’t always as perfect as you might be pretending they are for the sake of being ‘happy’. It’s essentially a song about strained and frayed relationships from the perspective of somebody who has tried everything they possibly can to turn it around or see the upsides in the moments where the dying embers are flickering. It’s about the harsh realities or ‘fragile truths’ of being so deeply invested in someone but losing the fire or spark that brought you together.” – Alfie Jefferies – vocalist/bassist.
‘Asbestos’ is the third single Glass Peaks have released in 2019, along with mental health wellness driven ‘Traffic, and Stephen King inspired post-punk anthem ‘Misery’.
Along with the single, the band have released a video from when they were invited to the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London to record a special live version of the track.
“The Abbey Road session was set up by Jake Cox (guitar). We have a dear old friend named Liam Narrie who has been studying at the Abbey Road Institute and kindly invited us into the studios for a session. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to record a live session for Asbestos seeing as it’s such a beautiful space with a rich history. Dizzee Rascal happened to be in a session in the studios next door and we spent quite a long time chatting to him post session.
He was incredibly insightful and kind; he offered some real words of encouragement and restored our faith in what we’re trying to do a bit. He pulled us up on Spotify and said he’d have a listen on the way home, so I’m hoping he’s a fan!”
With this fresh single, Glass Peaks have also announced their next home town headline show, which will take place on the 31st January 2020 at the stunningly intimate venue of St Pancras Old Church.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on the 16th August 2019 here.
“We decided that our next London headline show would be at St Pancras Old Church. It’s such a stunning space that we think is totally fitting for our music. We’re going to curate an incredible evening of music and want it to be a real talking point as well as a really strong way to kick off 2020”.
After taking a short break to craft their sound and live performance, Glass Peaks are back. Starting their year off with a sold out show at London’s Camden Assembly, and a series of festival slots that included the Alternative Escape, Sound City, Camden Rocks, Pennfest, and City Sound Project.
