BEING AS AN OCEAN are giving fans a deeper look into their upcoming album, ‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ with their second release ‘Find Our Way’. ‘Proxy’ will be available on all platforms on September 13th, 2019.
“We have all encountered monsters in life and will all endure pain. I believe there is great comfort and healing to be had in the comprehension of this truth. That even with life’s suffering, there is almost unlimited potential for happiness and gratitude. We have time given to us, we are alive and breathing, we feel deeply, we can sense, we can experience joy and elation. I count these things as blessings.
The point of carrying on in this world is the living out of joy and purpose (essential elements in a person’s life) for one’s self and the cultivation of them in our communities. I believe that community, another essential element in life, is something that we are all built for and deserving of. We have always held each other so close as friends in this band and understand the importance of leaning into the support of loved ones. This song is a reminder to keep the faith and trust the goodness and strength of those you keep close. The music community became the biggest joy in my life and informed my purpose, so if this song uplifts at least one music-lover, then it’s done its job.” – Joel Quartuccio
‘Find Our Way’ follows the recent release of lead single ‘Play Pretend’, and its cinematic sci-fi companion video/short film, which was directed by BRUME. Hailed byAlternative Press for being “so massive it might just give you whiplash”, the clip can be seen HERE. Loudwire described the video as “sci-fi fueled Armageddon meets the hallucinatory side effects of mushroom tea, aided by airy post-rock elements, futuristic-sounding multi-tracked vocals and electronic-styled drum beats”.
‘Find Our Way’ and ‘Play Pretend’ are both available as instant-grats by pre-ordering‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ ahead of its release on September 13th.
Grammy-nominated producer and collaborator Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Poppy, Halsey) helped the band to build songs from the ground up in the studio (He worked with them on 2018’s “Alone,” which emerged in just 12 hours). This new process carried forward into the making of ‘PROXY’. Each song sprang from the collective. Nothing was considered “finished” until everyone shared enthusiasm and satisfaction in the results.
In an interview with Alternative Press, Joel Quartuccio talked about raising the bar: “We always keep pushing ourselves,” he says. “It’s important to each and every single one of us to be better and keep incorporating new things that we love that we want to see in all of the art we put out. The very first music video we ever shot was done by Tyler in my living room in my small apartment in San Diego. We want to keep growing in every aspect.”
After arriving on the scene in 2014 with ‘How We Both Wondrously Perish’, Being As An Ocean’s unique blend of post-hardcore punch and ambient tones has helped them rack up a staggering 85 million streams globally while playing to a rapidly growing community of diehards around the world.
‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’ stands as a monumental, year-long labour of love, sculpted and breathed into reality. Its inaugural single’s music video lifts the veil on a vast creative world from which the band has pulled its inspiration and artistic guidance, exposing a narrative, not unlike our own; an existence experienced through the human lens of empathy, suffering, loss, longing, regret, reconciliation, sacrifice, joy, and love.
Fans can catch BAAO performing ‘Play Pretend’ and a heady mix of additional new tracks and fan favourites on their upcoming North American headlining tour, which kicks off September 19th in Los Angeles. They’ll head to the UK and Europe for an international run that begins November 1st in Belgium.
