Album Review: Thy Art Is Murder – Human Target

Murder One

Roll up, roll up ladies and gents it’s time for some bone crushing and spine wrenching as Thy Art Is Murder have arrived with their own bespoke mangle to ease you through the tensions that life has to offer.

C J McMahon is in fine form as he growls with a gusto that would shame Storm Freya that visited the UK earlier this year, with a yearning to tell us where we went wrong and pinpoint our shortcomings, he and his cohorts line ‘em up so we devour each word, each note and vow to help change things for the better.

Put your hard hats on folks as we walk you through our newest attraction’ Humanity Under Construction’ and with a whole host of choices you can select you’re very own ‘Human Target’. With the world cruelly destroyed by our own hands, it is the unenviable task of future generations to rebuild and boost our society.

‘The fear is in the eye of the victims you have chosen’ from the title track discusses the imbalance that exists in humankind, and where ‘kind’ is not on the agenda.

Another relevant topic is the advances in social media and how we obsess over things that are artificial and superficial, in ‘New Gods’ we bow down to the internet and all the temptation on display, it’s easy to get reeled in and submit to a fantasy world.

‘A lust for artificial heroes’ is the reality of what we have become.

With fearsome fretwork,  dastardly drumming, we will clamour to the front of the venue to be seen and heard by our heroes who in turn throw out these hard hitting morsels, for us to chomp on.

Let us sing my friends, enraptured by the ‘Death Squad Anthem’ as we demand to be heard and ‘we will not stand by while society collapses’. The level of corruption and mind control is staggering and extremely dangerous, with only divisive and poisonous characters in the limelight (dear Funcle Trump and his nephew in the UK) who wield such immense power, we can only sit back and watch the ruination.

When ‘peace talks are off the table’ folks, that is not the table we want to be eating at. Unfortunately, life is an ‘Eternal Suffering’ for many of us as we languish ‘chained to each other in misery’, we really need to pull together my friends and do much better than this for us all.

It is an abhorrent state of affairs when people are told to ‘know your place, stay with your kind’ from ‘Voyeurs Into Death’ as we watch the harrowing images of ‘children to the cages’ and despair at the tragedy that unfolds.

The deadly breakdown in ’Eye For An Eye’ is energising and we believe we deserve a chance to start again.

Loosen up those mangled corpses my friends and get in the pit!
