Vocalist, Ryan Sword, transforms negative criticism into motivation for upcoming release out on 16th August!
New Heroes began as an aspiration for Sword, in the small North Texas town, Wichita Falls. After playing a few local shows and receiving comments such as, “You call that real music?” Sword knew that if he wanted his dream to be fulfilled then he would have to take the initiative and begin making moves.
The vocalist was quick to relocate to Dallas to pursue his music career. Unfortunately, the rest of the band did not follow. He decided to record the first single alone. Sword curated every note for Deathbed and followed up with recording and releasing the song as soon as possible. Shortly after, Sword began to form the new band lineup. The band came together through meeting at shows and a Facebook music support group. Everyone had the same dream for New Heroes and was quick to become hard at work.
The DIY bedroom recording was a risk worth taking. The band bounced ideas and became closer than ever while revising and writing songs to fabricate the completed masterpiece. New Heroes brought in guest vocals for the ballad, Boombox, to add dynamics and showcase the wide variety of talent that Dallas has to offer. The band is a connoisseur of supporting dreams and this reputation has created a strong network of friendships within the local music scene. The band took six months to create the EP due to unexpected delays when a band member dropped out. They never gave up and continued to work harder. After a year of coming together, the pop punk band is ready to celebrate the release of their debut EP, Audra Lane.
The debut EP emcompasses many topics and is sure to have a song that anyone can relate to. Many songs take an optimistic view on a negative situation.
“Audra Lane is about family, new beginnings and good memories. The EP was long awaited and we put in countless hours of writing and recording,” said Sword. “If you only take one thing from this EP, I hope it’s that you should never try to impress others within the way you dress, act, etc.”
Fans of Broadside, Neck Deep, and Blink-182 may enjoy this new Dallas pop punk band. Sword describes the band’s genre as an eclectic mix of pop punk and hardcore.
“We try to combine hardcore influences with pop punk influences to appeal to a wider audience,” said Sword. “I feel like New Heroes is relatable and down to earth. Every single member has a heart of gold and will do anything to stand up for what is right. Our music is not everyone’s cup of tea, but we jump at any chance we get to deliver a catchy chorus everyone loves.”
