Introducing Swedish pop artist Ellen Krauss

Rising Swedish pop artist Ellen Krauss releases the vibrant and at times surreal video for her captivating new single ‘On The Bus’ directed by visual artist Gemma Yin.

Speaking about bringing the song – which is an ode to unrequited teenage love – to life visually, director Gemma Yin says, “We wanted to make a vibrant video for ‘On the Bus’ to compliment Ellen’s colourful style and personality. She had seen a summery collage animation that she loved so we ran with the idea of shooting her in still photography sequences before deconstructing the imagery to build our own unique world of surreal collage. We meander between recognisable elements from the story of the lyrics and random things from Ellen’s imagination in this performance video – it is like a hyper-charged daydream!”

Ellen adds, “The video for ‘On The Bus’ really captures the feeling of wanting to escape an unrequited love. Perhaps being drunk or daydreaming on the bus. I love the trippy and surreal feeling that Gemma and her team have produced. Working with them was such a great experience.”

Ellen Krauss recently signed to BMG Recorded Music through a new partnership with indie label, Tiller Inc. With her self-taught talent and captivating way of delivering norm-challenging messages, the outspoken 18-year-old pop promise is a fresh example of the young DIY generation. ‘On The Bus,’ is her first release through the partnership and is available to stream and download here – https://ellenkrauss.lnk.to/OnTheBusPR

Before releasing any music, Ellen received praise from music icons Carly Rae Jepsen, Max Martin, and Laleh when she was awarded Rookie Artist of the Year at the Denniz Pop Awards in Sweden. Her debut single and LGBTQ acceptance anthem, “The One I Love,” has already racked up over one million total global streams since its release in April and was added to over 1,500 playlists so far, including Spotify’sNew Music Friday (Sweden).

Since the age of four, Ellen has been one with the guitar and spent the majority of her youth secretly writing songs in her room at home in Stockholm, or in South Africa where her family occasionally lived, drawing inspiration from diverse artists such as Ed Sheeran, King Princess, Dire Straits, and Bruce Springsteen. She is a playful, charismatic, and emotional storyteller who uses her songwriting to challenge the norms that today’s youth is fighting. She is outspoken about LGBTQ equality, women’s rights, and pushes back against the traditional social structures that a young girl should fit into.

Ellen will be releasing more music throughout the year, with her first EP currently in the works. She also just made her U.S. live debut recently in Los Angeles at the Hotel Café. Keep up with Ellen on her socials for more music, touring updates, and additional exciting news to be announced.
