Hotly tipped Sheffield band Before Breakfast have shared new track ‘Something Good’.
The buzz builds locally and now nationally for this all-female band with comparisons being drawn to First Aid Kit and Marika Hackman. Last track ‘Buddleia’, released in May, prompted an addition to BBC 6 music’s Tom Robinson ‘Fresh Faves’ and a Spotify playlist. Further support came from BBC Music Introducing, the band will appear on their stage at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield on 21st July, following a Sofar Sessions tour (full dates below). Before Breakfast will also take part in BBC Music Day in Sheffield, details to be announced.
Talking about new track ‘Something Good’ the band said: “It is a song born out of a really strange situation involving an Elvis Tribute Band, whiskey and a Glaswegian hotel. As a woman who wants to respect other women and treat them with kindness, ultimately this song goes against all of that in thanks to a moment of lustful madness. But none of us are perfect and sometimes we just want to feel wanted, no matter who it is that wants us and no matter who could get hurt. I feel it might come back to bite me one day.”
Since the release of their debut EP ‘Open Ears’ in April, Before Breakfast have carved out a shining live reputation most recently touring with C Duncan, The Dunwells, and Tokio Myers, also working with Reverend And The Makers, Jon Boden and Renegade Brass Band.
Before Breakfast tell intimate stories about being a woman that resonate with people of all stages in life. Gina, Debra, Annie and Lucy weave strong melodies with piano, cello and vocal harmonies to create a delicate and accomplished sound that is drawn from a wealth of musical experience, from classical to folk.
