Marsicans release candid video for bombastic new single ‘Little Things’

Having just been announced as headliners of the BBC Introducing stage at Reading (Fri) and Leeds (Sat) festival and hot on the heels of being the #1 most blogged artist on Hype Machine with their bombastic new single ‘Little Things’, Marsicans release the candid video for the single, shot by long time visual collaborators Sodium. Watch the video here

Speaking about the video, frontman James Newbigging says, “As the song is based around the little things in life which brighten your day, we thought it would be nice to showcase some of these in the video. Our long-time visual heroes Leeds film company Sodium got onboard and we invited a load of fans down to their studio. We asked people to bring their ‘little thing’ that makes them happy and show it off in a photobooth setting. It could have been anything: a family heirloom, a teddy, a friend. I even brought my dog down for a guest appearance. It was so nice to spend the day with everyone and see their reactions when they were in the booth with their thing that they love.”

The Reading and Leeds announcement follows on from Marsicans recent live shows including performing to a 20,000+ crowd at Elland Road alongside The Vaccines and Kaiser Chiefs and supporting Foals in Hamburg. The fast-rising UK indie quartet’s new single about the quintessential little things in life, was produced by Mickey Dale and mixed / mastered by multi-Grammy award winning duo of Fernando Lodeiro (Paul McCartney, Vampire Weekend) and Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Imagine Dragons). Following their earlier 2019 single ‘Your Eyes’, things have continued to gain pace for Marsicans (“MAR-sick-anz”) with this release. ‘Little Things’ has seen them rack up their 8th consecutive New Music Friday UK playlisting and the cover of The Indie List for the first time. Early airplay comes from Huw Stephens on Radio 1 and Radio X’s John Kennedy who invited the band in for a ‘live’ session. This builds on previous Radio 1 support from AnnieMacPhilTaggart on the Hype Chart & Huw Stephens on Introducing, plus Radio X evening playlist and a John KennedyRecommends feature. 2019 has also seen Marsicans featured on C4 Sunday BrunchMadeIn ChelseaMTVRocksThe Box/Kerrang TV and BT Sport & BT Music TV playlist. Not to mention a Vevo DSCVR session, a UK #1 7” vinyl chart placing, a headline tour with BBC’s Abbie McCarthy in the Spring, as well as packed showcases at TGE and Live At Leeds. With high-profile main stage slots coming up at Truck and Tramlinesfestivals next month, Marsicans have also just announced their biggest headline to date at the 1000-cap Stylus in Leeds and are readying their debut album for release later this year.

‘Little Things’ and ‘Your Eyes’ are the follow-ups to Marsicans 2018 single releases ‘Suburbs’, summer-jam ‘Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend)’, and ‘Wake Up Freya’. The Leeds bandwent from strength to strength in 2018: a sold-out UK tour, BBCRadio 1 stage slots at Reading and Leeds, main tour supports to Fickle Friends, JAWS, Clean Cut Kid and US indie band Hippo Campus in the UK and Europe.
