LA trio Tennis System have revealed another epic new track from their forthcoming album ‘Lovesick’, which is set for release 02 August via Graveface Records. The new composition ‘Turn’ shifts effortlessly between ethereal, shoegazing soundscapes and all-consuming, fuzzed-up riffs. Vocalist and guitarist Matty Taylor says that the composition is about “acknowledging a sense of emptiness when something that once brought you joy brings nothing but pain. It’s literally the turning point, where you realize that what you love is hurting you more than helping you. This is the first song we wrote after ‘P A I N’, and was a literal turning point for the band in terms of creative output, and general positivity and really kickstarted the direction/tone of ‘Lovesick’.”
‘Turn’ really embodies the overall feel of the album. It’s a journey from frustration to positivity that can be applied to many situations and circumstances in all aspects of life.
‘Lovesick’ was recorded by producer/engineer, Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Gouge Away), who perfectly captured the compelling blend of towering shoegaze and driving punk that defines Tennis System’s sound. Tennis System’s line-up is completed by Sam Glassberg (bass) and Garren Orr (drums) and they’re truly a power trio with the emphasis on power, capable of conjuring a storm of noise and melody that would make Kevin Shields proud.
Tennis System have already been on the road with The Appleseed Cast in support of ‘Lovesick’ and have further US shows coming up this month with the likes of Ringo Deathstarr. See full itinerary below.
