Live Review: Lucy Spraggan at Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms

Lucy Spraggan brought her incredible set to Portsmouth’s Wedgewood Rooms last month as the LGBT community gathered to support her along with families of all ages.

A last minute inclusion of acoustic singer Chris Simmons who replaced the previous announced support really got the crowd entertained beforehand with his witty and entertaining set.

Chris’ first Portsmouth set certainly got the crowd warmed up for Lucy as she arrived on stage with her full band to lots of fans screaming. The former X Factor contestant enjoyed herself from the first minute as she performed Fight For It and Today Was A Good Day (the title track off her latest album) to kick off the proceedings.

Lucy then continued her set with the likes of Lighthouse and Last Night (Beer Fear) as fans continued to support the artist and sing-along to her songs. Tracks Tea & Toast and Breathe were certainly some favourites of mine as Lucy finished on Lucky Stars and Lightning. You could just tell that fans wanted that one last song and that’s just what they got with the brilliant Unsinkable!. Lucy is certainly one of them performers that gives it 110% and I can only see her getting stronger and better in the music industry as time goes by. At aged just 27 years of age, Lucy has certainly got a long and successful career ahead of her.
