Prog The Forest Charity Progressive Rock Festival shares update

We are delighted to confirm the full line-up for Prog The Forest Progressive Rock Festival which is raising funds for the World Land Trust to protect vulnerable rainforests from destruction.

Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate and friends in association with London Prog Gigs present a one day festival of progressive music at the Fiddler’s Elbow – Camden, London (UK), with profits to be donated to the World Land Trust.

The World Land Trust buys threatened rainforest, to protect in trust, to stop them getting chopped down. Trees make oxygen, without which breathing is a bit pointless. So protecting the trees is good for the wildlife, and good for us staying alive. A win-win really. We are aiming to be able to raise enough to protect at least an acre.

The event will showcase the diversity of modern progressive rock and related genres.

Acts include –

Axiom

Formed in early 2017 by three bearded men in Birmingham, Axiom is an instrumental progressive rock band influenced by jazz, funk, rock and metal. Their recent performance on the main stage at Hard Rock Hell’s Prog festival has been widely acclaimed.

“Original songs, well delivered, style, stage charm, a great voice and great bass playing. Bloody marvellous. The highlight of the weekend”. e-festivals review of HRH Prog.

“Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate is an ideal example of what prog is; music that does not follow a traditional pattern or path but rather evolves. Hats Off Gentlemen manages to evolve both with every new album and every time you listen to the same album…there is so much there you can’t take it all in on the first go-round.” The Closet Concert Arena

Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate are recommended by Steve Hackett (Genesis) and were joint winners (along with Roger Waters and Alice Cooper) of the Beastie’s Rock Show Album Of The Year Award 2017.

Mardhys

Mardhys is a six piece multi-cultural prog-folk band under the leadership of songwriter and front woman Melatti.

Together with 4 other multi-culti musicians they formed MARDHYS, which stands for ’Seeker of Truth’. MARDHYS play Progressive Folk. “In the United Kingdom the term became attached to a musical subgenre describing a substyle of contemporary folk that draws from post-Bob Dylan folk music and adds new layers of musical and lyrical complexity, often incorporating various ethnic influences.

In a short period of time they got off to a flying start in their town of origin, Guildford (UK), with two sold-out headliner shows. They played a sold-out show alongside singer-songwriter Frank Turner. They started participating in the Europe festival scene, including Landjuweel festival in Amsterdam (NL) and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth (UK).

Based in London, nomadic duo tAngerinecAt was formed in 2008 in Ukraine as a collaboration between Ukrainian born Eugene Purpurovsky and English born Paul Chilton.

Eugene’s lyrics tell a story of resistance against gender, class and ethnic oppression, rape culture and other authoritarian structures. They have four independently released, successfully selling albums that have had airplay on BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 6.

The Wood Demons

The Wood Demons play their own brand of epic prog-psychedelia, combining powerful tunes and words with many influences woven into the mix – molten psychedelic guitar rock, classical violin, acid-folk, modal jazz, film music. In a Wood Demons song, you’re never far from a stirring melody, a poignant (or bizarre) lyric or a solo that spirits you off into the stratosphere.
