Bikini Bottom
Adding to the ever- evolving landscape of rock music , we have another addition to the growing army of pop punk artists. Boldly announcing their arrival, we have The Bottom Line, friendly, familiar, cute and clever they advance into Lagwagon territory, loyal to the old school but also quite adept at keeping up with the fiercely competitive music meat market.
‘Reasons’ is the tickling stick that teases and pleases as the fun continues with my favourite ‘She Makes Me’- sing along my friends ‘she makes me, she makes me, she makes me lose my sanity’ and we revel ‘Over And Over ‘ in the wonders and misery of love, life, and excruciating teen angst all set to the soundtrack of bubble-gumtastic pop punk. Textbook life lessons delivered so fresh, so funky and so punky as we await more ‘Bad News’ and cry for a hand to hold in the line ‘send help the water is rising higher’ so eloquent and elegant and gleefully reminiscent of our friends in WSTR.
Time to jump up off the floor folks as ‘Everything’ has that kinda beat, to make you dance until you drop, suitably imbibed with an alcoholic beverage, hehehe…
‘got a message on my phone’ is the start of many a disappointment as we discover ‘ my promises were lies’ in the sun kissed beach inspired ‘California’.
We end with ‘In Your Memory’ and the poignant line ‘ I’m a wreck and I made it in a world that let me down’ – it is insightful, honest and fills the listener with hope that everything will be okay.
Ten tunes served up under a blue sky, laying down on the green grass and under a yellow sun, skipping along with a sprightly spring in their step.
An invitation to drink too much until the sunlight hurts our head, so line ‘em up folks….
