Pleiades Release New Video ‘Ultra’

Pleiades share their haunting new video for “ULTRA” taken from their forthcoming EP “All At Your Mercy” which will be released on all digital platforms May 31st via AWAL.

“With each tragedy covered in the media seemingly more horrifying than the last, we’re becoming increasingly desensitised to the loss of human life. ‘ULTRA’ is my commentary on the value of human life and specifically how 72 people lost their lives at Grenfell Tower. Almost 2 years later, there’s still no conclusion. No accountability has been taken by any of those responsible. The family and friends of those who died are still suffering unimaginable bereavement due to negligence and irresponsibility. There are families that still haven’t been rehomed. These are our cries of frustration for them, and we have a duty to not let awareness of this immense loss to the community fade away. It cannot be forgotten and this is our reminder.” –  Andy Calderbank

“All At Your Mercy” was recorded at HQ Recording Studio in Manchester and produced by Joe Clayton (Pijn, Leeched, Wren), and mastered by Brad Boatright (SUNN O))), Rolo Tomassi, Employed To Serve, Coldbones) at Audiosiege Portland, Oregon.

Brutal, alluring and beautiful, “All At Your Mercy”  is a stunning amalgamation of dissonant sounds and tidal swells of ambience that play off the ornate and destructive downpour of guitars. The rasping, guttural vocals forcibly pulling you deeper into the eye of a post-metal storm, with barely a promise of respite in its wake.

Pleiades are a five piece post-metal band from Manchester brought together through their love of all things emo and alternative. Originally creating emotive instrumental soundscapes as a three-piece, the band held auditions for a vocalist to add an extra dimension.

“We originally had people come in and sing Jimmy Eat World’s ‘Polaris’ but nothing quite clicked. When Andy (Calderbank) came in, he was really up for having a go at one of the pieces we’d written and he just LET RIP! Honestly, I couldn’t stop smiling throughout. It was the combination of shouts, screams and his impassioned vocal style that caught our attention… we took him on straight away.”

Seeking to enrich their new sound and complete the lineup, the band enlisted the skills of Ryan Noble (guitar) an old friend of Andy’s, who brought greater depth, production and substance to the band, helping them to realise their vision and setting them on the path to writing their first record. The lineup was finally complete with the addition of OJ Riley (drums) bringing energy and intensity to their live show. The band have since gone on to share stages with Pagan,DryjacketWrenNapoleonChapter and Verse, OHHMS and more.

Be sure to catch them live soon.
