Y!KES are a new alternative rock band from Birmingham. Since forming in January 2019 they have released two singles/videos, their debut being the highly well received ‘Uncanny Valley’. They are releasing their third single ‘Visceral’ today on Friday 24th May. FFO Muse, MCR, Foals, Enter Shikari, Biffy Clyro.
The singles, produced by singer Joby Fitzgerald and recorded at Magic Garden Studio, are a showcase of the band’s ability to bring together frantic guitar licks, gritty vocals, huge drums and cutting lyricism. Their new track ‘Visceral’ is described by the band as ‘a grunge dance tune’. Following two highly narrative vids this single seeks to be solely about the song, the video being an animated lyric one so the focus is on the track’s synthy hooks and groovy beat. The band have just completed a run of dates and have plenty more lined up for this year, including slots at Your City Festival, Godiva Festival, Macmillan Fest and Hard Rock Hell.
