Strange Bones drop frantic new single ‘Give Me Sun’

Blackpool’s Strange Bones release their urgent and anthemic new single Give Me The Suntoday, following the tracks debut on Radio X yesterday. Showcasing unhinged energy, full throttled riffs and commanding vocals, it’s the second single taken from forthcoming EP Blitz Pt 1due 5th July, with more EPs to follow throughout the year.

Vocalist Bobby explains, “The song is about imprisoning ourselves in our own twisted perception of utopia”.

Give Me The Sun contrasts previous single Vicious, which blurred the lines between punk and electronic music, and garnered support from the likes of Kerrang! Radio, Clash, Louder, Gigslutz and Some Might Say. The combination of these tracks highlights Strange Bones as genre shape shifters, and is telling of further things to come very soon.

Strange Bones are notorious for their ferocious live shows, and will be hitting the road for a UK headline run in June. Dates for the run are:
01 June – London, Camden rocks
03 June – Cardiff, The Moon
05 June – Hull, Dive
06 June – Newcastle, Think Tank?
07 June – Preston, The Ferret
08 June – Liverpool, The Jacaranda Club
11 June – Leeds, Oporto

Strange Bones consist of the Bentham brothers – Bobby (vocals), Jack (guitars) and Will (bass) – and lifelong friend Stuart Newburn (drums). They collectively grew up on an awe-inspiring diet of punk rock, as their parents were one of the first to film punk gigs to VHS tapes under the name Jettisoundz/Visionary (distributed by Rough Trade, and eventually bought out by Cherry Red records).

Hypnotised by performances from the likes of Black Flag,UK Subs and Hawkwind, the sense of community combined with blistering energy is something Strange Bones endeavour to recreate at their notoriously ferocious live shows. Highlights include support to Frank Carter and the RattlesnakesYonaka and Cabbage, alongside Reading and LeedsIsle Of WightDownload,TRNSMT and 2000 TreesStrange Bones were also shortlisted for Best Live Act at the 2018 Unsigned Music Awards.

Releasing their We The Rats EP in 2018, Strange Bones have received plaudits from the likes of BBC Radio 1’s Annie MacMistajam and Dan P Carter, alongside BBC IntroducingBeats1XFMKerrang RadioKerrang MagazineClash and DIY.

Forthcoming EP Blitz Pt 1 was recorded and produced in Strange Bones own studio, and mixed by Thomas Mitchener (Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes). It builds on their punk backbone, spitting venom through every word and radiating high octane energy, whilst drawing on a plethora of influences from other genres and a drive to push boundaries. Bobby explains, “Blitz is a commentary of 21st century life. Part 1 looks at the hyper-normalisation of modern society, our reliance on self medication and self-built technological utopias in a world of accelerated modernity. The artwork is a depiction of the town that time forgot, life and death in Blackpool UK
