Interview: Chris Ruben Band set talk upcoming single

Coming off their recent performance at the Singer-Songwriters of Cape May Conference and Showcase and announced as the new House Band for WLNY/CBS TV’S “Live It Up! With Donna Drake”, psychedelic funk rockers The Chris Ruben Band are getting ready to drop their next brand new single “Cold Shoulder”! They’ll release the new tune along with a live show filming for RiseUp TV on Saturday, May 11th at The Rail (281 W Main St, Smithtown, NY 11787). Chris Ruben himself will also be a featured character on Season Two of the series.

We managed to catch up with the band as they talked about the upcoming single and more!

So how pumped are you for your upcoming single Cold Shoulder?
As a group we are very pumped! this is a very big deal for us.

Can you tell something about the single no one else knows?
One thing that no one knows about the song that makes it special is that this is the first song
we all arranged together.

What was your favourite moment making the single?
Speaking for myself[Chris] it had to be finishing the video. The song itself had been
months in production so once we had that finished, the daunting task of making a video was
before us but our very own Frank and Eugene wrote and directed this video and i have to say
i will never forget making it.

So there will be a special release party for this single, are you looking forward to this one?
Yes! 5/11 at The Rail in Smithtown 281 W Main St! Doors open at 8! I’ve[Chris] been asked to be a part of
season 2 of RiseUP TV as a character on the show. Our release show is the last one on the
stretch of the tour I’ll be taking part in so the crew and cast will all be there. We will also be
premiering the video that night so we are all looking forward to that.

So what’s next for you after this?
we already have another single in the last leg of production and working on a video for that as
well but it is leading toward an album. Be as it may that we are in a singles market, thats all fine.
we want to release a collection of our songs because of the story they all tell together. Our journey continues.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?
Great question! Narrowing it down it would probably be tame impala. Though their music has definitely
changed dramatically, Kevin Parker is the kind of songwriter with a mind for groovy psychedelic
arrangements that i think would generate at least an interesting song. If we had the chance to take part in
something like that who knows what would happen.

What do you all get up to in your spare time when not working on music?
Chris loves watching movies, cooking, bowling, and the occasional trip to the wakanda delight hotel and being
a cosmic girl. Sugar mama never leaves a sting and always has a song to sing.Russ is an eating enthusiast. on any given day Russ could invite you to any variety of places. His food choices and times are very specific and if you don’t respect that you typically are’nt included and that upsets him none.
Brendan is our adventurer. Whether he is locked on target, full gear and ammo on the battleground in various airsoft tournaments, strapped in soaring down mountains of snow, or kicking a flip on the occasional skateboard, he’s always got our backs.
Frank and Eugene are from another universe and got stuck in human bodies. If they’re not part of some production, band, recording session, performance, chances are they have some family engagement or they’re at the gym. These are some of the most dedicated people out there. Always learning, growing, and doing anything they can to make themselves better in any way, they are an asset to any team they are on or any project they work on.
