“Europe! The Suspending Gravity Tour is coming to you! We’re unbelievably excited to be back thisNovember. Grab your best masquerade mask, a box of croissants for Matt, and come scream yourfacehole off with us. We can’t wait to see you!” says lead guitarist Matt Webb. The thirteen date tour will feature the signature high-energy performance by the powerhouse Vancouverbased quartet and will showcase material from their brand new ‘Phantoms’ studio album in addition tocertified Canadian hits from their previous releases. ‘Phantoms’ was released digitally in March, withLP and CD formats made available in Europe on 26th April.
The rabid Marianas Trench faithful got a sneak preview of ‘Phantoms’ in late 2018 via a video for thebouncy first single, ‘I Knew You When’. Indicative of the album as a whole, its lyric reflects the overalltheme of coping with memories of past relationships. As lead singer Josh Ramsay explains: “I wanted to set an album from the perspective of someone descending into madness as he inhabits a househaunted by the ghost of his former love. I looked to Edgar Allan Poe for inspiration. Strangely, the datehe was rushed to the hospital preceding his death was October 3rd, the same day our first album wasreleased, and the same date I was once to be married. Even more strangely, we finished this album onJanuary 19th, his birthday. I’m not one for superstition, but that does feel oddly serendipitous.”
Marianas Trench have consistently raised the musical bar both in the studio and via their explosive liveshows. They have built their name on relentless touring across North America and globally, headliningtours in the USA, Canada, the UK, mainland Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Since their 2006 debut, ‘Fix Me’, the group have had two double platinum selling records in their hometerritory (‘Masterpiece Theatre’ and ‘Ever After’) and two gold selling albums with chart topping hits thatinclude ‘Rhythm Of Your Heart’, ‘Haven’t Had Enough’ and ‘Who Do You Love’. Together with doubleplatinum and gold digital singles, the band has also garnered multiple SOCAN and MMVA Awards,Juno Award nominations and won the 2013 Juno Award for Group of the Year. Josh Ramsay alsoreceived a Grammy nomination in 2013 for co-writing and producing Carly Rae Jepsen’s internationalbreakthrough smash and US diamond selling single ‘Call Me Maybe’.
