Weatherstate pay homage to Green Day with new music video + announce debut album release shows

The wait is finally nearly over with Weatherstate’s debut album release coming up quick. ‘Born A Cynic’ will be out via Failure By Design in the UK and Wiretap Records in the US on 10 May and the Bristol band have now released a fourth track from the full-length in the form of ‘Medicate’. “It’s about being overly reliant on a crutch to get through certain situations, whether that be socially, medicinally, or emotionally,” says vocalist and guitarist Harry Hoskins of the track. “We wrote this around the same timeframe as ‘Sympathy’. Honestly, this one all fell into place naturally. We just wanted to write a ripper.”

And a ripper it is. Said ripper follows on from previous rippers ‘Sympathy’, ‘Brain Dead’ and ‘Rotten Lungs’, with seven more riff-based monsters set to appear on the full length. There’s also a music video for ‘Medicate’ which pays homage to a certain music video from a certain band…

‘Born A Cynic’ was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Neil Kennedy & Daly George at The Ranch Production House where the band stayed at close quarters with each other (and the odd uninvited rodent intruder).

Weatherstate have spent the past couple of years touring Europe and the UK, most recently ripping up stages with Canada’s The Dirty Nil. They’ve just announced a couple of album release shows in Bournemouth and London too, as well as their already announced appearance on Bristol Booze Cruise. Details below. Weatherstate’s effervescent take on punk harks back to legendary pop punk bands of the 90s whilst incorporating a new energy that makes them one to watch in 2019.
