Swears are a fuzzy alternative rock band originating from Middlesbrough, drawing influences from grunge, punk, doom, and pop. The band consists of Joel Clayton, Craig Hughes and Cypriot brothers George and Stephanos Louca. The band officially launched in July 2017 and have released four singles that are available on all streaming platforms as well as the music videos being available to watch on YouTube. The singles have been played on BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and internationally on Fauve Radio in Hong Kong. In addition to this the band have appeared in session on BBC Radio Tees to play live versions of the singles on the BBC Introducing show. Also, the band have performed a live session on Black Square Sessions which is available on Amazon Prime Video. The band have been busy gigging around the country and are looking to book shows all over the North-East region and the rest of the UK! Check out the video for Subliminal (out tomorrow 17th April) below!

It was filmed with Volta Media in Middlesbrough town centre. It stars Natalia Louca (George & Stephanos’ sister) and Conor McBride (Casual Threats/Deep.Sleep) as they travel through the centre, confronted and harassed by various visual representations of societal/advertising press.

The band’s fifth single ‘Subliminal’ was released February 8th 2019.
‘Subliminal’ was recorded at Prospect Studios, tracked, mixed and mastered by Ed Hall (of AllSilk Mastering House). ‘Subliminal’ is about the way in which they absorb attitudes and opinions from an invasive, all-pervasive media, which reaches into our lives, distorting our image of ourselves and those around us.
