Car Astor Releases 90s Stylized ‘Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak’ Music Video

New York-based electropop powerhouse CAR ASTOR has released the new music video for her single “Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak,” which is available now on YouTube. The self-directed video contains classic 90’s music visual tropes such as fisheye lenses, loose narratives, and dynamic performance footage, frequently seen in videos by Garbage, Placebo and Foo Fighters among others.

“I was able to look to many of my earliest musical influences and nod my head to them with the performance aspect of the video” says Car Astor. “It was such a blast. I really wanted to pull on the tension and desire that surrounds the lyrics of the song, and execute that in a symbolic, dark ‘me‘ way. “

“‘Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak’ is a song that really pushed me to grow as an artist, and this video did the same exact thing,” says Car. “I’m super stoked with the end result. The project was a true labor of love from start to finish.”

Car Astor previously released “Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak” as a standalone single earlier in 2019, which served as the follow-up to her music video “Girlfriend” from late last year whichSubstream Magazine called “a masterful mix of pop meets electronic, making it angry yet danceable in an exciting manner.”  Ghettoblaster Magazine says “this single elicits the primal desire for movement and the songs irrepressible pop-powered melody serves as the seductive Pied Piper.”

Hailing from the NYC suburb of Long Island, Car Astor first emerged into the music world viaYouTube known simply as SEE, creating a viral underground presence that infected a whole legion of internet fans. Her breakout single, “Potions” grabbed over 6.5 million views onYouTube and 800k streams on Spotify.

“I admire artists who are very raw and honest, so I try to emulate all of those things as best as I can,” she explains of her musical growth. Citing  wordsmiths such as Neil Young, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks as lyrical inspiration, she continues. “The biggest motivation is me talking honestly and openly about my life and experiences.  I really admire artists who write incredible songs, ones that can be amazing with production, or ones that can make magic with just one instrument. ”

In addition to the new video, Car Astor is working on new music that will be released throughout 2019.
