Live Review: Yungblud at The Haunt, Brighton

Yungblud performing with Halsey

In what was a packed intimate Brighton crowd, Yunblud certainly didn’t disappoint his rearranged gig at The Haunt with high energy throughout.

It was certainly worth the wait despite the artist being a further hour late on the night than scheduled. He was accompanied but his full band which just gave that extra rock feeling to Yungblud’s set.

Yungblud certainly does have a cult following with some very passionate fans shouting back the lyrics. Yungblud started with songs such as 21st Century Liability and I Love You, Will You Marry Me which were already instant hits with the fans.

Yungblud was certainly a bit political too as he talked about the march in London and I think it would be fair to say that he his against the views of Teresa May.

Everyone was cramped in this tiny venue as the Doncaster based artist started to shot the lyrics ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’ which enabled him to really connect to his Brighton fans.

Songs such as Anarchist certainly turned this gig into almost a rave scene as Yungblud threw everything he had into this gig. He then sang an unreleased song titled Ice Cream Man which was good to hear and lots of fans picked the lyrics up straight away.

Yunblud continued to interact with the fans as he spat out water and threw his water bottle into the crowd. He is certainly one of the most energetic performers I have seen live as carried on his set with Medication and Loner where he got the tambourine out.

Yunblud was very open about his anxiety before he sang Kill Somebody which you could tell meant a lot to him. His whole look and feel reminds me of Twenty One Pilots mixed with Green Day at times. After performing California, Yungblud then had a surprise for fans as Halsey performed new single 11 minutes alongside him which everyone just loved.
You can see a real chemistry between these two and with the news of them being a couple, we can only wish them all the best.

The last song Machine Gun (F**k the NRA) was a real a hit and even created a wall of death which was amazing to see in such an intimate venue.

Overall it was an amazing show and he certainly will only get bigger and better from this.
