Fresh from a lock-in with fans and friends at their very own tavern last night, Circa Waves today release ‘Passport’, the latest track taken from their forthcoming 3rd studio album What’s It Like Over There?, out April 5th via Prolifica Inc./PIAS. Alongside the new music, it’s also been announced that the indie four-piece will support Two Door Cinema Club at Oval Space on March 30th to close Annie Mac’s inaugural AMP London series.
A wonderfully jaunty, piano-led anthem, ‘Passport’ celebrates the classic British night out drinking in the pub with your mates with the infectious, genre-defying directness Circa Waves have perfected in What’s It Like Over There with tracks like ‘Times Won’t Change Me Now’. The band will have the chance to test out the new material at AMP London at Oval Space next week, helping bring to a close the series of live music, talks and discussions taking place in London between March 27th-30th.
Early April will see the Circa Waves take to the road for in-store performances and signings throughout the nation before embarking on a 9 date sold-out UK tour in support of the album, which will see them play gigs in Oxford, Nottingham, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol and Newcastle, with a landmark show at London’s Roundhouse on April 26th.
Recorded in just one month and renewing their blossoming co-production relationship with Alan Moulder (Foals, The Killers), What’s It Like Over There? is an album that’s creatively unshackled and refuses to stay still. It fuses the visceral thrill of rock music with a slick pop sound, its themes of modern ennui, emotional fragility and all the inside-outs and upside-downs of relationships making it a record that could only have been made now.
