EP Review: The Xcerts – Wildheart Dreaming

Dead Cert Desserts!

These four little titbits were written at the time of the “Hold On To Your Heart” sessions but were not included on that album. Instead we have extra pudding my friends, and everyone loves pudding!

This EP will coincide with the final UK tour to support the album and then the band will go into hibernation…. well sort of.

First off, its “You Mean Everything” and it sets the scene for the EP, quite mellow, quite chilled, not in any hurry, and is a refreshing change to the “strap on your six string and feed our machine” (Chainsaw Charlie, anyone?) vibe, although that was a fantastic song too.

“Ready To Call” continues on the same path, just let it absorb through each and every pore ladies and gents, an aural moisturiser in effect.

My favourite is next “Fight Or Run” which highlights the question on all our lips

“when it all comes undone, will you fight or run?”

A delicate and tender touch strumming on “Real Love” ends this short and sweet journey, quite fitting actually and quite emotionally charging.

Excuse me, Waiter, leave the dessert trolley here, thanks.

The XCERTS-  Wildheart Dreaming out on 29th March via Raygun Records
