Fast-rising Irish pop-rock band Walking On Cars released a video for their latest single “Coldest Water,” taken from the band’s upcoming album Colours. A song that’s as deeply personal as it is instantly catchy, lyrically, “Coldest Water” reflects singer Patrick Sheehy’s relationship with alcohol, something he has never spoken about previously because, Sheehy says, “I wanted the music to do the talking and it was all a bit too fresh to be honest”. The song captures Sheehy’s split mind: on one hand, wanting to stay clean and sober, but on the other wanting to sabotage it all. The video is an eccentric whirlwind of emotions through a range of scenes from a hauntingly, dark funeral to a lively party. The band will release their sophomore album Colours on April 12th via Virgin EMI/Play Nice. Recorded between the band’s own home studio in Ireland, London’s legendary RAK studios, and Angelic Studios, where The 1975 also made their latest, Colours is kaleidoscopically rich with sounds, emotions, synth-rock imagination and the brilliant songwriting synonymous with the band’s previous releases. “Coldest Water is the most bizarre video we’ve ever done. The contrast from scene to scene is intentionally fanciful. From a rave to funeral, from a fox to a fencing match. We love the randomness of it.
It felt like the right time to put faces to the music. We tend to play more withdrawn roles in our videos so we consciously threw ourselves into this one. Enjoy!”
